Up To Speed Training | Alternative training delivery methods keeps skills sharp

Over the last few weeks, since the postponement of their training and assessment events, Up To Speed Training have been using the time to focus on a number of projects, including one with Lantra for exploring alternative methods of training delivery, with the view of giving the Temporary Traffic Management sector a resource to remain skilled and current during these turbulent times.
They are now able to offer a range of the NHSS 12 classroom-based training online, which will enable many of those currently working within this sector the opportunity to continue their training in a safe environment for renewing the skills on their cards, as well as maintaining the opportunities for newcomers to the industry
The courses listed below are available for those who wish to continue training through this difficult period.
TTMBC, 12AB Operative, 12ab IPV, 12d T1/T2, T3, T4, T5
The platform chosen for the online delivery is ‘Zoom’. This allows the instructor to be visible to the learners at all times meaning they can continue to deliver using their technical knowledge, experience and interactive skills. It also enables them to deliver a PowerPoint Presentation and share course material, whilst still maintaining full conversation with the group.
The courses are delivered under controlled conditions by the instructor with a proctored solution for the online end of course test, which guarantees verification of the learner and ongoing monitoring of the learner during the test.
In order to partake in this online training, learners will require access to the following:
- A suitable, quiet, uninterrupted space to undertake the course and exams
- Computer/laptop with webcam and audio – all working (ipads and tablets are unsuitable)
- A strong, stable Internet connection and access to emails
- Google Chrome as your browser
- Valid Photo ID e.g Drivers Licence
Up To Speed believe these courses will be a way of supporting industry in addressing the current challenges with which they are faced and assist in ensuring that the currency of skills is maintained and the workforce remains safe in carrying out their roles.
They will continue to work alongside Lantra, with a view to adding further courses to the online portfolio, in due course.
