Drivers will probably not notice any of this next week. They may notice later, in more subtle ways: cleaner lorries with different proportions, revised fleet purchasing decisions, or design assumptions on new schemes shifting by a small but important margin. Four metres is not dramatic on paper. On a constrained street, it is plenty.
